Project Description
The National Hockey Stadium pitch was built in 1994 for the Women's Hockey World cup finals & the Men's Hockey European Championship Finals.
Currently, it is reserved for hockey purposes mainly and has covered spectator accommodation for 510 people. When deciding upon a system, the UCD Committee chose FieldTurf Tarkett PUR.
FieldTurf Tarkett PUR
With the strength of their experience in this field, PUR was developed a specifically for playing field hockey, meeting the main requirements of the FIH.
Certified by the FIH in the Global category, FieldTurf Tarkett PUR is the result of R&D work in permanent association with the clubs and our installation teams.
The outcome of these efforts was the confidence placed in FieldTurf Tarkett by the highest federal hockey authorities for the supply and installation of pitches for the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
The pitch is water-based i.e. the pitch has to be watered before activity so as to minimise friction.
Throughout Laydex Sports Surfaces Division, and our contracting teams, UCD Hockey teams, and all visiting players, now can enjoy the same standard of facility that was enjoyed by our Olympians in 2004.
