Reinforced Plastomeric Polymer-Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane made of Distilled Bitumen and Plastomers

The long lasting strength, elasticity and stability at high and low temperatures make ARGO POLYESTER and MINERAL ARGO POLYESTER membranes ideal for use in non cold climates, as a single or multi-layer waterproofing system either for new building work or for refurbishment:

• On all sloping surfaces: on flat, vertical and curved surfaces.
• On different types of substrates: site-cast or prefabricated concrete substrates, on timber roofing, on the most common thermal insulation used in the building trade.
• For the various uses: terraces, flat and sloping roofs, dielectric coatings and walls in contact with the ground.

Reinforced elastoplastomeric ECMB polymer-bitumen waterproofing membrane based on distilled bitumen and polyolefin copolymers

DEFEND ALU/V

The Defend series of membranes are used as a vapour barrier layer of thermal insulation materials in construction covers. These membranes consist of non-porous, elastoplastomeric polymer-bitumen which, in itself, is an excellent barrier against vapour migration. There are three types of membranes:

Defend/V for the vapour barrier on roofs of rooms with low and medium humidity (RH at 20°C ≤80%). It is protected with a rot-proof reinforced fibreglass mat. It is also used as a sub-layer for double-layer waterproofing coats, to give dimensional stability to the top layer reinforced with polyester.

Defend ALU/V for the vapour barrier on roofs of insufficiently ventilated rooms with high humidity (RH at 20°C ≥80%). It is reinforced with a 60 micron aluminium foil, which is insuperable by vapour migration. The foil is associated with a fibreglass mat which increases its stability and mechanical resistance.

DEFEND ANTIROOT POLYESTER

Defend Antiroot Polyester is a root resistant waterproofing membrane. The antiroot properties are obtained by adding phenoxifatty acid ester, a specific antiroot agent, to the polymer-bitumen compound. Once applied, it forms a continuous barrier against roots. As it does not contain film or double-reinforced foils, it is more flexible and malleable during application.

The additive has been developed specifically as a root inhibitor, for both hot-laid bitumen and for torch-laid bitumen membranes. The reinforcement of the membrane consists of a single strand Spunbond nonwoven polyester fabric, with high basic weight. This fabric is isotropic, rot-proof, thermally fixed and has high mechanical resistance, considerable ultimate elongation, excellent resistance to punching and laceration.

It has both faces coated with Flamina, the hot-melt film, which stops the rolls of material from sticking together. The reinforcement and the waterproofing mass are resistant to chemical effects of humic acids and fertilizers. It is used in all waterproofing systems in contact with the ground or where there is the risk of the system being attacked by roots.

INDEX FIRESTOP

Firestop membranes are fire resistant with harmless inorganic anti-flame additives distributed right through the membrane. They can be applied without any protection on both flat and pitched roofs, even on insulating layers with high thermal resistance. The fire resistant properties are long-lasting and controlled constantly at the factory.

The three versions of Firestop membranes differ in terms of the type of mix: Mineral Helastopol Firestop is with elastomeric polymer-bitumen base, Mineral Elastocene Firestop is with polyolefin elastomers and copolymers polymerized with metallocene catalyst, while Firestop Polyester is with elastoplastomeric polymer-bitumen base.

ISOLONDULA

A pre-shaped trapezoidal sheeting panel with lateral rabbet joints made of self-extinguishing sintered expanded polystyrene coupled hot to a 2 mm thick waterproofing membrane in elastoplastomer polymer-distilled bitumen, reinforced with rot-proof glass fibre with side and head overlaps. The panel is shaped to measure in order to match the profile of the asbestos roof and obtain a flat surface on any design.

Applications:

Used to repair and restore old fibre cement roofs and asbestos cement sheets without having to demolish them. This entirely avoids the costs related to their transport to landfills and the purchase and installation of their replacements. Shapes other than the ones normally produced can be supplied upon request.

Index Green Roof

Comprises a number of specialised polymer bitumen membranes from which the appropriate waterproofing system is constructed to protect the flat or sloping roof deck below. A water retention/drainage mat is then laid to sustain the vegetation layer which has been selected to top the installation. Index green roof systems are suitable for all types of buildings with either flat or sloping roofs up to a gradient of 50 degrees.

LIFE EXPECTANCY: Can more than double a normal waterproofing system.

STORM WATER MANAGEMENT: Controls water run-off.

AIR QUALITY: The plants absorb gaseous pollutants and convert to carbon dioxide.

HEAT: Reduces convection heat losses by up to 50% compared to traditional roofs.

SOUND: Lowers noise levels.

SPACE: Utilizes dead space while improving the environment and providing a wild life habitat.

Although the maintenance requirements of an extensive green roof are minimal it is recommended that a maintenance contract be set up to ensure the future health of the plantings and efficiency of the roof system.

A. Drought resistant regenerating varieties of sedum with a mature growth height of between 50-150mm.

B. Substrate will be of a well balanced structure and be low in weight.

Index Mineral Finish Torch on Membranes

A full range of torch applied bituminous membranes with mineral finish are available. The range of APP and SBS modified bitumen torch-on membranes supply reliable and effective flat roof waterproofing with ease of use, good cold flexibility, resistance to heat and UV rays, combining excellent performance with cost effectiveness for all types of flat roofing and tanking applications.

Index Supergum

VIS is a plastomeric polymer waterproofing membrane reinforced with non-woven polyester fabric which is rotproof, resistant to heat ageing, has good mechanical resistance, elongation to break and is reistant to piercing and puncture.

The compound is a mixture of distilled bitumen and plastomers which give the membrane excellent ageing and flexibility characteristics.

Application: As a result of the excellent mechanical resistance and ultimate breaking point VIS may be used with confidence in both the industrial and domestic waterproofing of:

  • • flat, sloping and pitched roofs, reinforced cast concrete deck, prefabricated concrete deck, timber deck, terraces, foundations, under slating or under tiling, underground piperwork, etc. with or without thermal insulation
  • • and or use on renovation projects
